Ingredients
- 3 sheets store-bought butter puff pastry
- 3 granny smith apples
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 100 g melted butter
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- Vanilla ice cream to serve
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Core the apples and slice them into thick rings, approximately 2–3 cm wide. Unroll the puff pastry sheets and slice them into long strips roughly 3 cm wide. Take one strip of pastry and begin wrapping it around an apple ring, threading and looping it through to create a complete wreath. Repeat the process until all the apple rings are wrapped.
- Place the prepared rings onto a lined baking tray. Brush each ring generously with melted butter, ensuring the entire surface is coated.
- In a small bowl, combine the caster sugar and cinnamon to make a spiced sugar mixture. Sprinkle this mixture liberally over each ring, allowing a thick coating that will form a sweet, crisp crust when baked.
- Transfer the tray to the preheated oven and bake the pastries for approximately 20 minutes, or until they are golden, puffy, and cooked through.
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. To serve, dust with icing sugar and place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of each ring.
