Beef Mince Katsu (Menchi Katsu) with Tonkatsu Sauce

Ingredients:

Mince Mix
  • 500g beef mince
  • 3 eggs
  • 125g Obento Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 50g tomato paste
  • 150g tofu
  • Salt and pepper, to your liking
  • 250g onion, chopped
Coating
  • Obento Panko Breadcrumbs, for coating all patties
  • 2 eggs
  • 50ml milk
  • Plain flour, for lightly coating the patties
  • Oil, for frying
To Serve

Obento Tonkatsu Sauce, to your liking

Method:

  1. Mix mince mix ingredients well. Portion into 100g patties. This should make about 12 pieces.
  2. Lightly coat each patty with flour, then egg & milk mixture, and panko breadcrumbs to finish off.
  3. Fry in oil preheated to 180°C until cooked through.
  4. Repeat with the rest of the tofu slices.
  5. Serve on a plate with the salad of your choice and tonkatsu sauce.
