Fried Chicken Bao Buns

Ingredients:

  • 1 box frozen store bought bao buns
  • 4 chicken thigh fillets
  • For the batter:
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Panko breadcrumbs 
  • Hoi sin sauce
  • Siracha kewpie mayonnaise
  • 2 cucumbers, finely julienned
  • 2 carrots, finely julienned 
  • Store bought pickled cucumbers, sliced 
  • 1/2 bunch coriander

Method:

  1. Cut the thighs in half, and crumb.  You can either deep fry these or fry in the air fryer until super golden and crispy. 
  2. Steam the bao buns in a steam basked over a double boiler as per the packets instructions. 
  3. To fill, spoon a tsp of Hoi sin sauce and mayonnaise onto the bun, add the carrot, cucumber and herbs and top with fried chicken.
